Nothing between proposing and exposing?

I've been in the online dating world for a couple of weeks and I'm already exhausted. It's not hard to have a conversation with someone you expect to become a friend, so why is it so hard to have a normal conversation with someone you expect to become a romantic partner? 

I feel like all the men I'm interacting with are either strangely eager to get married or they're just trying to hook up. 

A couple of people asked for my phone number and I said no; but then a couple of people asked for my phone number, and it seemed to be going well, so I gave it to them. It was barely 24 hours later when one guy was sending me a dick pic. Not that I'm opposed to sex, or seeing someone's dick eventually, but not yet! 

What happened to just getting to know someone? What would you say to a person if you met at a bar b q at a friend's house? Or even at a bar? You wouldn't whip out your dick would you? Maybe some people would. 

I really would love to go on a date, have coffee, take a walk in one of the 9 million parks and wildlife areas around here. But the dead of winter is not the best time for outdoor meetings and we are still too much in the middle of COVID to have an indoor date. So, for now, I'm stuck having these incredibly awkward conversations with desparately lonely men. *sigh*
