Restoring "faith"
This morning on CNN a reporter was talking to undecided voters in a coffee shop in South Carolina. One Republican woman said she was considering Romney because "we need to restore faith in this country, we really do." And it left me wondering: does she really believe that the government is the best vehicle to accomplish that? Odd.

What REALLY boggles my mind about comments like that is that people actually believe that there IS a crisis of faith in this country. What, 90% of the country being church-going Christians isn't enough? Sheesh.
And, yeah, I'm with you. If you want to fix faith, talk to your church leaders, not your government leaders. Unless you want an actual theocracy. And we see how well that works in countries that have 'em. (That woman would be mighty surprised by the things she suddenly wouldn't be able to do under the rule of, say, the Taliban.)
Grrr.
restore faith in the country as a nation, or somehow have the president encourage people to attend the religious service of their choice?
if she meant the latter, that's a bit odd. Any time you mix government and religion, it's a bad idea. See: Ancient Rome.
And that, playwritergirl, is why you are my #1 favorite Christian. :)
